Our Achievements
|
|
|
The Basic Skills Agency recognised our achievements in
developing literacy and numeracy across the curriculum by awarding the
school
the Quality Mark Award for Primary Schools.
|
 |
|
To win this award, we had to
develop an effective action plan based upon the needs as identified
through analysis of pupil performances. Targets were set and
progress against these were regularly reviewed. The school showed a
commitment to developing staff skills and using a range of differing
teaching styles.
The involvement of parents in family literacy and emergent writing groups
was an important element in our successful application.
|
|
The school has also been awarded the Advanced Level in Quality in Study
Support Award for the standard of our Out of School Hours Learning
Opportunities offered to our children. |
 |
|
Activities include: rugby, netball, cricket,
athletics, baseball, folk dancing, modern dance, science, I.C.T., craft,
cookery, Judo and rock music clubs as well as tap dancing! |
|
The
School's Early Birds Breakfast Club recently won the Education Extra's
Breakfast Club Award
for the quality of this provision.
This club provides breakfast for pupils on a daily basis between 7.30 and
8.30am. Children are offered a wide and varied menu of food and drinks
such as toast, crumpets, cereals, pancakes, yogurt, fruit, milk,
milkshakes or orange juice all at very reasonable prices. All menus
are displayed in both English and Welsh and children are encouraged to use
the medium of Welsh to order breakfast.
