Special Resource Bases (Special Educational Needs)

Llanedeyrn Primary School has a positive policy towards pupils with learning difficulties.  This is based upon the early identification and appropriate support, using both the schools resources and where appropriate those of external agencies.  A support teacher works within mainstream classes at both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

We have two Special Education Needs units, one is based at Key Stage 1, and the other at Key Stage 2.  Each unit has  places for 10 pupils. Admission to these classes is controlled by the Chief Schools Officer.

Our SEN Staff are:

Mrs Rawlins - SENCo and Junior SRB Classteacher
Mrs Fox  - Infant SRB Classteacher
Mrs Toms - SEN Support Teacher (Mainstream)
Mrs Bennett - Teaching Assistant-Junior SRB
Mrs Harvey - Teaching Assistant-Infant SRB

We have a policy of integration, in that the pupils in the Units take a full and active part within school life.
Junior class Each pupil follows an Individual Education Plan (I.E.P.) which is designed specifically for them.  In conjunction with I.E.P.s both SRB's follow the National Curriculum at an appropriate level for each individual in each class.
The children who attend the Units have statements of educational need that range from mild to moderate to severe learning difficulties.  Some children may also have some medical or behavioural problems. Infant class
